Oman · Skilled tradesperson

Employer-led only, with Omanisation limits

A tradesperson cannot apply alone: an Oman employer must hold a Ministry of Labour permit and sponsor the Royal Oman Police work visa. Permit approval conditions under the current Labour Law (Royal Decree 53/2023) and the official list of closed professions could not be read, so Omanisation limits are not quantified here. Whether the worker is tied to one employer is NOT VERIFIED. No official shortage list was found in the sources read, so none is shown. Large expatriate trades workforces exist: NCSI counts 1,408,882 expatriate workers in the private sector in Aug 2026.

Employer-sponsored work visa and Ministry of Labour work permitتأشيرة عمل

Preview — under verification

The only employment route is employer-led: a licensed Oman employer obtains the Ministry of Labour work permit and applies for the Royal Oman Police work visa, which an individual cannot apply for; permit conditions under the current Labour Law (Royal Decree 53/2023) and Omanisation limits were NOT VERIFIED because the text could not be read. The published list of professions closed to expatriates was NOT VERIFIED from an official page.

Getting there

14-day visa-free entry

Visitors from more than 100 countries and regions can enter without a visa for up to 14 days, in two groups. For the second group, which lists India, the page says citizens must be either residents or hold a valid entry visa, and names the qualifying visas as US, Canada, Australia, UK, Schengen or Japan; residence in a GCC country is also mentioned there, but that sentence is garbled on the page, so which GCC residents or professions qualify is NOT VERIFIED and no GCC facility is assumed for anyone. Also stated: passport valid six months; the stay cannot be extended or converted to a residence visa. Return ticket, hotel booking, health insurance and funds appear as general entry conditions. The exemption for GCC citizens (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE) is for citizens, not residents. Confirm with the Royal Oman Police eVisa service before travelling.
